Game Director with Producing Responsibility
Full job description
About us
AI-Future AG is an EdTech start-up in Basel. We are developing an AI-based learning game with a revolutionary didactic concept: a voice-led 3D game for children aged 9 to 13, as an app for smartphone and tablet.
The role
We are looking for the person who turns this prototype into a game that children want to play for years, and who leads the team there.
What you will do
- You own the overall creative direction: game feel, tone, art direction and scope from vertical slice to launch.
- You keep the overview of the entire game and decide what gets built and what gets cut.
- You run production: roadmap, milestones, priorities and dependencies between game design, Unity development, asset production, backend/AI and content.
- You coordinate an interdisciplinary team and make sure nobody is blocked.
- You work closely with our Lead Game Designer and our EdTech Lead. Both own the design canon and the didactics and hold a veto there; you deliver within this framework and develop it further together with them.
- You translate findings from playtests with children into clear design decisions.
- You report directly to the CEO.
Your profile
- Several years of experience as a game director, creative director, lead designer or producer, with at least one shipped game
- Experience with games for children or families
- Leadership experience with small, interdisciplinary teams and your own judgement on what is feasible in Unity/3D
- Demonstrable strength in production planning and scope discipline
- Fluent German and English
- The conviction that a learning game must first be a good game, and the willingness to accept educational guardrails as a design constraint
An advantage: experience with cozy games, voice-based or AI-supported games, live operations and continuous content production.
What we offer
- Real creative authority over a product with a mechanic that does not yet exist in this form
- A small, experienced team with short decision paths
- Hybrid work with an office in Basel
- Funding from existing investors and a research partnership with FHNW
